5 out of 5 stars Does What It Is Supposed to Do   August 15, 2009
R. Hsu (Los Angeles, CA)
This is my second time buying these things and I wanted to post this review because the other reviews I read just didn't do this product justice. Comparatively, the Honey-Can-Do brand is much cheaper than the Space Bag brand for what you get and what it is. Also, the purpose of this thing isn't to allow you to stuff every last inch of it full and then expect to magically suck all the air out of it with a vacuum. I was skeptical about buying this the first time around, but am much more comfortable with it now that I have used the product.

The first time around, I bought 3 boxes w/ Amazon Prime. I used it primarily to store extra bedding and out of season clothes that I have. So for me, my main goal was not to let my stuff sit and gather dust and to reduce the space that it takes in my closet.

Funny enough, I didn't even use a vacuum cleaner. After you put your stuff inside the bag, you simply just zip it shut and then squeeze all the air out of it and then shut the air seal. Its as simple as that. If anything, I would think that it would be faster to just manually reduce the size than to use a vacuum cleaner since all the hassle of connection the vacuum and disconnecting and reconnecting the extensions on the vacuum, depending on how complicated your vacuum cleaner is.

I was happy with my purchase and found that I had more stuff that I wanted to store away. I wish I could show you how my closet looks now. There is so much more space available, its great!

Sorry to the other reviewers, but I'm really happy with this product and I'd come back to Amazon to replenish my stock or recommend to friends. This is much cheaper than going to Target.

my house is small and cramped. i need to save all the space i can. Honey-Can-Do-Vac has allowed me to do just that. rather than a bukly box and finding a space for it, i was able to store more than a box and i had the space for it, under my bed. i say, thank you, thank you.

The whole idea of these bags is great, however, that's only if the product actually works. I bought 6 bags and 2 of them don't hold the air.
Hopefully, the rest will at least hold.

So it seems to be that you take your chances on how many of the bags will actually work and then you will need to contact the manufacturer to see if they will replace the ones that don't... haven't gotten there yet since I just purchased the bags.

1 out of 5 stars Vacuum? What vacuum?   June 4, 2009

At this point I have had experience with both this brand and the other brand of vacuum storage bags. These seem a little more solidly built, the vacuum valve is nice and closes well. Despite this, out of 5 large bags that I purchased in separate packs, only 1 held the vacuum for more than a day, and even this one gave out before a week. I did everything according to instructions, filled the bags below the fill line, closed the zippered end tightly. I think this must be a general manufacturing problem with the so-called air tight zippers. I still left the clothes in the bags since I know water and bugs won't get in (for a couple hours), but as for volume savings, that has not been realized at all. Notably, most (still not all) of the medium size bags I got are still holding vaccum a month later. Overall I'm pretty disappointed.

1 out of 5 stars Very disappointed   November 10, 2009

I bought these hoping to save some much needed space but they don't work. I almost burned out the motor of my vacuum cleaner trying to suck the air out of them. When I put the valve (lid?) back on, it fell right off. I would not recommend them.
